Credit warnings and Errors in Delivery Agreements

In Business Central, the standard credit warning system notifies users when a customer exceeds their credit limit or has an overdue balance. However, it only issues warnings, allowing users to continue with releasing sales documents even if credit conditions are no met. While this serves as a helpful alert, it doesn't enforce any strict credit restrictions.

The Wisefish Credit Warning functionality extends BC’s default system by adding options to enforce stricter credit controls. It allows configuration to block releasing of Delivery Agreements entirely if a customer's credit limit is exceeded, their balance is overdue, or both.

Notice: Credit limit check is an independent and separate check from Insurance/Security check.

Setup

Before setting up the functionality in Wisefish it is necessary to understand Business Central's Standard Credit Warning System

In Business Central, credit warnings are configured to provide alerts for two primary scenarios:

Credit Limit Warnings: Notifies the user if the customer’s current balance exceeds the pre-set credit limit.

Overdue Balance Warnings: Issues an alert if the customer has an outstanding overdue balance.

For more details on configuring the standard credit warning system, refer to Microsoft's official documentation.

This configuration needs to be defined in the Sales & Receivables Setup, determining when errors should be triggered in Delivery Agreement to prevent further processing.

Wisefish Setup

To activate the Wisefish error functionality it needs to be enabled in Wisefish Setup Configuration with the field Delivery Agreement Credit Check:

Notice! When the functionality is enabled in Wisefish Setup, only designated users are allowed to change Credit Limit value on the customer card. To control what users can change the credit limit, the field Credit Limit (LCY) Change in the WF User Profile Card is set to Allowed and users that have that profile assigned to their user can change the credit limit value.

If a designated user should not get an error, when trying to release delivery agreements that exceeds the credit limit of the customer, it is possible to activate ‘Bypass Delivery Agreement Credit Check Field’ on the WF user profile. By doing so the user will not get any notifications (blue ribbon or pop up notification) when releasing a Delivery Agreement.

Working with Credit Warnings in Delivery Agreements

If the Wisefish credit warning feature is NOT activated, users will receive a notification with a blue ribbon when a delivery agreement is released, and they can proceed as usual, as with sales orders and -invoices.

If the Wisefish credit warning feature is activated, users will see a pop-up notification and will not be able to release the agreement. To proceed, the credit limit for the customer must be adjusted or the customer must pay any outstanding invoices.

  • Credit limit check is only triggered when status of Delivery Agreements is changed to 'Released'.

  • All values related to the credit limit are calculated and presented including VAT and in LCY.

  • Estimated Sales Costs are not included in the Credit Limit check.

  • Users cannot print or preview the Delivery Agreement report unless it is released (R: 10005310, 10005320, 10005320), as order confirmations and invoices must pass the credit check before being printed.

The Credit Limit information can be viewed in the Customer Statistics FactBox. Additionally, it includes released delivery agreements, which are added to the total payment amount the customer owes.
