Recording Catch for the Trip

The result of a fishing trip is entered as line items on the fishing trip card. This is used to record total quantity and prices related to the raw material catch. If production is done on the Vessel, this production information can be added in the Product and Product Lines of the Fishing Trip.

  1. From the registered fishing trip card, enter the catch information (Fish Type, Size Grade and Quality Grade, etc.) for the trip as line entries.

  2. Insert a checkmark in the Market Sale field if you do not want the fish to be entered as Inventory when landed, e.g. if the fish is going to a market or will be stored in Containers. The checkmark for Market Sale can also be set by selecting a Landing Type Code where this option is enabled.

  3. Enter the total weight of the fish for the respective line entry in the Total Qty. field.

  4. If a default price has not been set up or if the price needs to be adjusted, enter the Basic Price for the catch.

The Basic Price will be taken from, in order of priority, the following: a) The Vessel Price List, b) The Vessel Group Price Table that the vessel belongs to, c) The Size and Quality price set on the Raw Material card, or d) The Unit Price set on the Item Card.
However, it is possible to edit the price directly in this field.

  1. If the Fishing Trip spans more than one period, enter the Period this catch value belongs to.

  2. To record discarded catch, place a checkmark in the Discarded field.

If the value of this particular catch entry is not to form part of the total value of the catch when calculating the fishing crews payment compensation, indicate this by choosing Yes in the Excluded From Exchange field. This does not affect the total value of the catch, just the amount included in compensation calculations. This function is primarily used in Iceland for donation calculations (when the value is donated either internally or externally and, therefore, not shared to the crew).

There are many additional parameters which can be recorded with the catch record. It is not necessary to do so but, if noted, these details can be grouped in reports for more comprehensive information.

To view, hide, or add available fields to the line entries, use the Choose Columns functionality (Personalise).
