Lot Examples

This page contains snapshots of examples from an older version of Wisefish. However, they are still valid and can be used in the current BC version.

Lot Line No.

Lot-Line No. - quick example:

Here is a quick example of how the "Lot-Line No." functionality is utilized to track a received batch from purchase receipt, through production and to sales delivery.

Raw Material received:

Enter a "Receipt Agreement" for raw material. When the Receipt Agreement is 'Released', the system automatically creates a "Production Related Lot" with the same code as the "Receipt Agreement" (here RA200007). The new "Production Related Lot" is subsequently used to register all production and consumption transactions for this origin.

Note that the system automatically issues a "Lot-Line No." for each and every "Receipt Agreement Line" and posts it to the Trade Item tables in WiseFish.  The "Lot-Line No." information for the received raw material can be sent to a production system on the factory floor (here RBK), indicating that this raw material is to be used against "Production Related Lot" with the same prefix (RA200007-1).

The "Production Related Lot" has now been auto-created and is ready to be consumed- and produced against.

Raw material consumption/usage:

The raw material Trade Items from the "Receipt Agreement" are clearly marked with "Lot-Line No." in the Trade Item tables in WiseFish.

Raw material consumption is either initiated in the production system (RBK or other) and then interfaced to WiseFish via XML messages, or manually entered and posted directly in a WiseFish "Trade Item Consumption Journal". WiseFish supports filtering inventory by "Lot-Line Nos." when searching and selecting raw material for consumption…

"Trade Item Consumption Journal Lines" are created for the selected raw material and posted to the "Production Related Lot" (RA200007).

Production output:

The product output on the other end of the processing line is posted to the same "Production Related Lot" (RA200007), thus establishing a proper traceable link between the consumed raw material (input) and the production (output).

The output production record adds a number value at the end of the "Lot-Line No." for more internal traceability within the "Production Related Lot":

The second digit after the dash (-) to indicate the number of days after landing started when the raw material is consumed into the filleting process. The suffix is now two digits: RA200007-11, RA200007-12, RA200007-12.

The third digit is added to tag the production line (filleting machine) that processed the fish (filleting line 1, 2, 3…). The suffix is now three digits: RA200007-111, RA200007-122, RA200007-123.

After posting the output production, the Trade Items on stock can be filtered for inventory analysis or sale by the "Lot-Line No.".

This is the Open Trade Item table filtered with "Lot-Line No." = RA200007-*.

Sales & Delivery:

When selecting stock to ship in a Delivery Agreement, the "Lot-Line No." filter can be applied.

This is the TIA reservation overview page in Delivery Agreements that is used for selecting stock by "Lot-Line No." (and multiple other parameters) for delivery and sale. The selected stock by "Lot-Line No's" auto-populate the Delivery Agreement Lines.

Inventory Overviews and Reports:

Some inventory reports, that are based on Trade Item inventory data, offer grouping and filtering by "Lot-Line No's.":  For example the "Items and Lots" reports (R50080/R50081).

The report output shows trade item inventory broken down into "Lot Line Nos.".

The general TIA (Trade Item Availability) overview supports filtering by "Lot-Line Nos".

Lot Group

The "Lot Group" is mainly intended for grouping and filtering internally related groups of lots in lot lists and in BI tools - such as Wise Analyzer. It is also used for setting up permission rules that improve control of postings to "Production Related Lots" by "Entry Type" and "WF Item Type" - and serve to minimize user errors. The posting instructions on the "Lot Group" card can also dictate if a default "Hold Status" should be applied for produced Trade Items. In some companies the "Lot Group" is used as an input parameter in "Group Bonus Calculations" that are part of periodic salary settlements for production workers.

The use of "Lot Groups" is entirely optional, and should only be implemented if it is of significant value for a company.

"Lot Group" is registered only on "Production Related Lots" records (Lot card), and is not posted directly to inventory records - neither Trade Items nor NAV Inventory. Therefor the system can only apply "Lot Group" logic directly to the "Production Related Lot" themselves, or indirectly to inventory records via the "Production Related Lot" posted on the inventory ledger entries.

"Lot Groups" can be specified in WF User Profiles that are assigned to system users. This allows the system to compare "Lot Group" instructions per User Profile against data for posting in journal lines, and give warnings or errors prior to posting if abnormalities are found.

Lot Group - quick example:

A list of "Lot Groups" is defined and recorded into the system.

The group is applied to new "Production Related Lots" by selecting a lot group code into the "Group" field on the "Production Related Lot" card.

This enables users to filter Lot lists by "Lot Groups".

A default "Lot Group" can be set up on a "WF User Profile", and the profile then assigned to specific users.

If a user has a "Lot Group" code specified in his profile, then the system activates and performs systematic checks when "Trade Item Journal Lines" are entered for production and consumption to "Production Related Lots":

a)       If the user's "Lot Group" (according to the WF User Profile) is not the same as the "Lot Group" on the "Production Related Lot" that is entered in the "TI Jnl Line", then the system gives a warning about the mismatch. (The user might be trying to post to a wrong Lot).

b)      However, if the user's "Lot Group" (according to the WF User Profile) is truly the same as the "Lot Group" on the "Production Related Lot" that is entered in the "TI Jnl Line", then the system looks further to see if the combination of the "WF Item Type" and the instructions on the "Lot Group" record allows the posting:

The posting instructions on the "Lot Group" record are as follows:

  • Raw Material Consumption Allowed

  • WIP Consumption Allowed

  • Product Consumption Allowed

  • WIP Production Allowed

  • Product Production Allowed

The "Item Type" (Raw Material/WIP/Product) is found on the "WF General" tab in the "Item" card:
