Production Lots

Lot

Lot is the fundamental traceability element in Wisefish and Business Central. The basic Lot Code is the primary link between BC and WF inventory. It is also the main traceability element (along with Item, Location, Variant) used to track and trace the creation, lifespan and end of an inventory batch.

The Lot Code is mandatory for Wisefish-items, and posted directly to Item Ledger Entries and Trade Item Ledger Entries for all inbound inventory transactions.

For clarity, the system divides "Lots" into Origin Related Lots and Production Related Lots:

  • The term Origin Related Lot applies to non-produced items (purchase, pos.adjstm., catch etc.) where the lot code is system generated from a number series.

  • Production Related Lots are used for linking input raw material to output products. The lot code posted to inventory is derived from the "Production Lot".

Lot-Line No.

Used for tagging sub-batches within Production Related Lots and thus giving additional detailed traceability information. The Lot-Line No. is recorded on inbound entries (Receipt Agreement Lines and Trade Item Journal Lines) and posted only to the Wisefish Trade Item tables (not to the Business Central item ledger entries). Trade Item inventory can therefore be directly filtered by Lot-Line Nos.

In the production role menu, the lots can be filtered to only production lots:
