Compensations are price adjustments applied to a raw material line before its value is split among the crew, for example, a quality bonus, a tub/container adjustment, a landing-harbour adjustment, a size-grade adjustment, or a fishing-equipment/gear adjustment. They’re set up once as master records (Fishing Compensations), each with a percentage and a Compensation Type (Quality, Tub, Landing, Size, or Fishing Equipment).
A compensation gets attached to a catch line in one of two ways depending on its type:

Size and Quality compensations come from the Size/Quality Grade master data. If the grade selected on the catch line has a Compensation Grade configured, that compensation is applied automatically.

Landing and Fishing Equipment compensations are chosen directly on the raw material line (or defaulted from the fishing equipment used).
Whenever a relevant field on the line changes, it gets automatically recalculated. Compensations marked Compensation excluded are calculated straight off the line’s base value, while the ones marked Compensation included build on top of that rather than each starting from the same base, so the order and formula setting of the compensation codes matter when more than one is used on the same line. The result raises the line’s price per kg, which flows into Value Including Compensation and then into Exchange Value, the same value used later in Fishing Trip Settlement to divide value among the crew.
