Fishing Trip Settlement on Vessel Card

The crew roster and crew share settlement for an individual vessel is set up the Vessel Card.

The Settlement tab on the vessel card specifies how settlements (share values of catch) with the crew will be handled for this vessel.

  • Enter the number of crew (No. of Crew) normally required for this vessel.

  • In the Exchange Value Ratio Code field, choose the Exchange Value Ratio used to calculate the percentage of the total value of the catch which will be included in the crew’s settlement.

    • Default percentages are set up in advance in WF Fishing Setup/ Exchange Value Ratio. These can be customized per vessel by adding a line entry to this table. The percentage specified here will calculate the percentage of the total catch value which can be divided among the crew’s shares. For example, if the total value of the catch is $1000.00, then entering a value of 80% will mean that $800.00 will be available for share distribution.

  • Choose whether the settlement will be calculated by Period or by Trip in the Settlement Type field.

    • You can divide a trip into as many periods as you like. This allows for a finer division of the share calculation if crew members or numbers are changed throughout the trip.

  • Payroll Class is to choose the vessel size class

  • Exchange Value for Report - enter in the reportable default exchange value.

  • Temp. Settlement Percentage - If temporary settlements will be applied before the final numbers are known, enter in the default temporary settlement percentage here.

  • For some fisheries (shrimp trawlers, for example), the operation is required to pay for a fixed number of crew regardless of the actual number of men that may be on board for any given trip. So, for example, the contractual number of crew may be 10 even though the actual crew is only 8. If this is the case, indicate the Contractual Number on Board in this field.

  • Place a checkmark in the Link to Market Prices field to use the default market price specified for each size grade of raw material (Related tab on the Vessel Card - Fishing and Quota - Size Grades, see the Market Price field) associated with this vessel in calculating settlements rather than an actual sales value.

  • Print Register at Fund Posting

  • If baiters are also to be included in the settlement share, indicate the No. of Baiters and the No. of Shares of Baiters to be assigned.

  • Should an extra share become part of the settlement, indicate if it is to be divided equally among all crew or according to the share percentages set up for crews in the Exchange of Extra Share field.
