Consume and produce without journals

As an alternative to the journals, consumption and production for a production agreement line can be registered and posted in one step from Production Agreements Overview – Consumption / Output. This is useful on the production floor, where raw material is converted into products line by line.

There are two methods:

Method

Use when

Single Trade Items

One trade item is consumed and one trade item of the agreement line’s item is produced from it (1:1), for example when thawing, regrading or relabelling.

Multiple Trade Items

Several trade items are consumed and several are produced for an agreement line, for example when processing raw material into packed products on pallets.

Before starting

  • The production agreement must have status Released and be Active.

  • The agreement header must have Stock Center Code, Processing Stage and Lot Code filled in. Location Code is also required if Location Mandatory is set in the Inventory Setup.

  • The agreement line must be Active.

  • The WF User Profile must have the consumption and output templates and batches for production agreements filled in.

Opening the overview

Open Production Agreements Overview – Consumption / Output. In the Production & MES Wisefish role it is under Production Analysis > Prod. Agr.: Cons. / Output. It is also possible to search for it.

The overview lists all Released production agreements. Select an agreement and choose Consume / Produce > Single Trade Items or Multiple Trade Items. These actions are only available when the agreement is Active.

Other actions on the overview: View Production Agreement, Item Ledger Entries, Value Entries and Dimensions.

Single Trade Items

The page Consume/Produce Single Trade Items for Production Agreement shows, for one agreement line:

  • Open Trade Items for Consumption: the trade items that can be consumed for the line.

  • Open Trade Items Produced for Production Agreement: the trade items already produced for the line.

Steps

  1. Check the Posting Date. Adjust the filters if needed (for example Lot Code or Processing Stage).

  2. Select the trade item(s) to consume in the upper list, and choose Consume Trade Item.

  3. For each consumed trade item, one trade item of the agreement line’s item is produced. Consumption and production are posted, and labels are printed if set up.

  4. Use Previous / Next, or Select Line, to go to another line of the agreement.

To undo a production, select it in the lower list and choose Reverse Trade Item. This reverses both the production and the consumption.

Requirements for the items

  • The item to consume must have New Item No. at Internal Action on its item card set to the item on the agreement line. This decides which items can be consumed.

  • The consumed and produced items must have the same base unit of measure, weight per unit and trade item unit of measure.

  • Trade items that are already in the same stage and lot as the agreement can’t be consumed.

  • If a trade item is on a pallet, you are asked to confirm that it’s taken off the pallet.

Multiple Trade Items

The page Consume/Produce Multiple Trade Items for Production Agreement has two lists for the selected agreement line:

  • Reserved Open Trade Items For Consumption To Production Agreement Line: what will be consumed.

  • Trade Items To Create For Production Agreement Line: what will be produced.

Steps

  1. Check the Posting Date.

  2. Choose what to consume: choose Reserve Open Trade Items for Consumption and reserve the raw material for the line. Which items can be consumed is defined in the Item Conversion Matrix (see below); use View Item Conversion Matrix For Output to see it.

  3. Choose what to produce:

    • Suggest Trade Items based on Pallet Definition creates the trade items to produce, based on the pallet standard and number of trade items per pallet.

    • Suggest TIs for PA Lines based on Pallets using Defaults does the same for all lines of the agreement, using default values.

    • Synchronize with PA Line updates the agreement line with what’s been registered.

  4. Check the yield (optional): Calculate Key Figures shows consumption against production.

  5. Post: choose Post Consumption / Production. A dialog shows the totals to produce, reserved for consumption, and already consumed but not posted to Business Central. The Yield Control setting on the line can limit the production to up to 100% in number of trade items or up to 100% in weight. Confirm to post.

If Pallet Separator Mandatory in Consuming/Producing Multiple TIs for Production Agreement is selected in the WF User Profile, a pallet separator must be registered when barcodes are scanned.
